What sort of people have you been communicating with?

This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 06, 2008:
With my new job at the newspaper, I have been communicating with people from all different walks of life. I have talked to triathlon runners, small airplane pilots, the Lieutenant Governor, and even a fencer who is passionate about the Middle Ages and Reniannance time periods. These are not usually the people I associate with, and I know I never would have gone to any of these events without being forced. But I learned from each person that we are all passionate about different things, yet we can relate to each other through the common bond of being passionate.
I have also been talking to my close friends from high school. We have all been bonding because everything will be different in college. Even though 3 of us will be at the same school, we won't really see each other that much, unless we schedule times to meet up.
Since I'm about to move into my dorm, I have been talking to my roommate about the finishing touches we still need for our room. We also found out that we will be at the beach at the same time, so we will be hanging out a little before we live together for the next year. I've also been talking, well communicating on facebook with people who will be living in the same dorm as me next year, and also another girl I was thinking about rooming with. I've been trying to expand my circle and be more accepting of people. I tried to not be afraid to talk to people, because I know the only way I will make friends in college is if I'm outgoing and friendly to everyone I meet.
